h2oly city photography competition

From the skyline down to the waterline, Charleston is a city shaped by water. The h2oly cityphotography competition and exhibition aim to promote awareness of the role of water in our lifestyle and how it influences Charleston’s civic environment.
ELIGIBILITY: Registration for the competition is open to all. There will be two categories for judging: the open classification is available to anyone; the youth classification is reserved for entrants 15 years of age and younger. All eligible photos must be taken in Charleston, be the sole property of the photographer, not be previously published, and should include a depiction of how our water influences our lifestyle and Charleston’s civic environment.
REGISTRATION & SUBMISSIONS: All participants are required to register their photos and pay the entry fee determined by their submission category. Applicants are allowed to submit up to five photos; each photo will count as one entry. After submission all photos become property of the Civic Design Center. For each photo entrants should submit one 8” x 10” print mounted on foamcore. No identifying marks should appear on the printed image; affix the registration form to the back, and mail/ bring them to the following address: (Charleston Civic Design Center / H2OLY CITY 85 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401) Payment by mail must be made by check or money order payable to the City of Charleston. Cash payments will be accepted if delivered in person Mon-Fri 8:30am – 5:30pm. Entries must be received by 5:30pm on May 8, 2009.

REGISTRATION FEE: Open classification $10 / Youth classification $1
AWARDS/PRIZES: All eligible photos will be included in the spring exhibition opening May 14, 2009. There will be up to three winners in each category as well as the “ People’s Choice Award” which will be voted on by attendees at the opening of the exhibition.
Prizes will be awarded under the following guideline:
Open 1st Place $300, 2nd Place $200, and 3rd Place $100
Youth1st Place $100, Youth 2nd Place $75, Youth 3rd Place $50
Peoples’ Choice Award $100
JUDGING CRITERIA: Photos will be judged on aesthetic quality, and effectiveness at promoting an awareness of the role of water in our lifestyle and how it influences Charleston’s civic environment.
